What Customers Say About Krups 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemakers with Glass Carafes:

I have two of these coffee makers - one for office use, the other for home - and use them regularly. So far, no complaints - great coffee, reliable product.

I challenge anyone to pour a cup of coffee with this carafe wiwthout dripping all over the countertop. After three months I can' t use this coffee maker anymore because it won't turn on because of a bad sensor. The programming user interface is impossibly complicated. Worse the coffee maker has a no water or low water senor that can not be reset. Junk. Customer service no help.

I purchased this unit for a few reasons:1. After the 12 year model it was VERY disappointing. The decalcification process was a bit of a pain especially since you can't set the timer to automatically start when it needs to be decalcified. I like the 4 hour auto off option (most others are up to 2 hours)3. I did like the fact that you could turn off the audible ready indicator. The last one I had (Krups ProAroma) lasted me 12 yearsItems 1 & 2 are still great selling qualities. Krups makes good coffee2. Day-to-day the leaking (even when not overfilled) aggravated me.

Though #3 bit me in the you know where. I had this model for about a year and a half and it just quit one day. Once you figure out how to program the start time don't EVER change it, way too complicated. I just bought a different coffee maker and it doesn't make quite as good of a pot of coffee but I can buy 2 for the price of this one if it dies after a year and a half too (had to sacrifice my 4 hour auto off but we're learning to deal with it).

Another thing I noticed while setting it up - you can't separate the lid from the carafe. Never used it and it's already broken.

Set it up last night to make 8 cups of coffee. Bought this unit yesterday.

I found 3 of the 8 cups of water had leaked out onto the counter. Did not use the program feature as we weren't sure exactly when we would be getting up.

This morning I went into the kitchen to turn it on manually. I'll be taking it back to where I bought it for a refund today.

Not too good for cleaning.

She said she would gladly exchange it or give me a refund. I've tried lifting the lid a little bit, but then the steam is too hot on my hand.

My problem is with the carafe. The coffee maker is mostly fine - makes pretty good coffee, but not as good as the old Braun maker it replaces.

I've tried pouring slowly. I have had this coffee maker for a week, and only one time have I been able to pour coffee from it without it dripping.

I've tried pouring fast. I asked at the store I bought it from if other people complain about this coffee maker, and she said yes, frequently.

She suggested a Cuisinart unit that wasn't much more $$.
